About MediatorWeb:-

Transcription of an eukaryotic gene is a very tightly regulated process and Mediator is at the centre stage of this regulation. Mediator is a gigantic multi-protein complex consisting of 25-36 subunits arranged in four different modules viz., head, middle, tail and kinase. Although the number of Mediator subunits vary from organism to organism and their sequences are not so well conserved from one kingdom to other, the overall structure is remarkably conserved across the eukaryotic kingdom. Mediator has been found to affect almost all the aspects of transcription ranging from initiation to termination through elongation and transcript processing. The subunits of Mediator complex have been found to harbour multiple evolutionary conserved Intrinsically disorder regions (IDRs), providing it suitable interface for protein-protein interactions. Indeed, Mediator subunits interact with a plethora of different kinds of proteins forming a spider web-like complex and complicated network. MediatorWeb database provides comprehensive view of the protein-protein interaction network of individual and combination of Mediator subunits.

MediatorWeb is a novel protein-protein interaction database that provides interface to visualize and analyse the list of proteins interacting with the Mediator complex of Saccharomyces cerevisiae (yeast), Homo sapiens (human), and Arabidopsis thaliana (arabidopsis). The database compiles and integrates the experimentally validated physical interactions of Mediator reported. MediatorWeb interface allows visualization of protein-protein interactions in a scale-free network and provides a table of the proteins interacting with the Mediator subunits. It also provides an option to download and analyse the network formed by more than one Mediator subunits simultaneously. Thus, this database is very useful for the comprehensive analysis of wide network of Mediator complex.
